‘Fun for everyone’

Halloween Trunk or Treat event coming to Caledonia

CALEDONIA - This Halloween, kids in Caledonia won’t just be knocking on doors for Halloween treats.
The first annual Trunk or Treat event will be held on Oct. 29.
“I love Halloween and have small children, like many of the families in Caledonia,” says event organizer Shannon Nowe.
After seeing similar events advertised online, Nowe thought it was a great idea and wanted to implement one in Caledonia.
“It's safe for the smaller kids to have one specific area to collect treats and fun for everyone to get together and do some decorating for Halloween,” she says.
The idea is that people will use their vehicles, decorated in whatever theme they want, to hand out goodies from the trunk. Nowe says anyone is invited to participate in either handing out treats, collecting treats, or both.
Pre-registration is not a requirement, but it would be helpful for the organizers to know how many people to expect to hand out treats. Participants can register with Nowe by calling 902-298-2727. There will also be a gift certificate for the best decorated vehicle.
Everyone is welcome to come participate in this free event, which is taking place in the yard at RSR Machining & Fabrication, 25 Co-op Rd., immediately adjacent to the Queen County Fair Grounds. Trunk or treating will happen between 3:30 and 5 p.m.
Nowe says they don't have many events like this in the area, so she feels it's important to try and start a fun tradition.
“I  would love this event to be an annual thing,” she adds.
