From guest to headline act – Elmsdale musician looking forward to upcoming performances

WHITE POINT – Named by Rolling Stone Magazine as a new artist you need to know, Makayla Lynn has already earned herself nine major award nominations, including three ECMAs and five Music Nova Scotia nods, all before she was even old enough to drive.
Elmsdale’s Makayla Lynn Parry will be performing a series of concerts at White Point Beach Resort this February, March and July.
“White Point is one of my favourite Nova Scotia venues to play at,” says the 16-year-old. “They treat their entertainment with such courtesy and go out of their way to be appreciative.”
White Point’s marketing manager, Donna Hatt, says that Makayla Lynn is a true White Pointer as she and her family have been long-time guests.
A few years ago, says Hatt, Makayla Lynn reached out to White Point to express an interest in performing there, which was immediately accepted.
“As a young, talented, hardworking Nova Scotian, not only is she a great performer, she is an inspiration for other youth,” says Hatt. “We're always looking for ways to nurture and encourage young people in Nova Scotia to aspire to reach for and achieve their dreams.”
With a special permit, White Point is able to have Makayla Lynn perform on the Founder's Lounge stage after 9 p.m. so families can linger longer, enjoy the music as a family in a great setting, says Hatt. The kids love taking in a concert, being a part of the experience with the families, and seeing such a talented and kind performer.
Makayla Lynn says she loves this as there are so many children in their PJs listening before bed, but it’s also a beautiful room that adults enjoy.
With siblings who love the beach, Makayla Lynn says she tries to get to White Point three to four times a year. And, White Point loves having her.
“We love to see her here with her family, spending time together amidst an increasingly hectic schedule that often has them being pulling back and forth to Nashville,” says Hatt. “Seeing her relaxed, playing around with her sister, strolling the beach and enjoying some down time here with us is such a pleasure.”
Makayla Lynn’s next concert will be on Feb. 18, followed by concerts on Easter weekend on both March 30 and 31. These concerts are free to everyone - overnight guests, neighbours and those passing though are always welcome to enjoy the shows in the Founder's Lounge, says Hatt.
