New JA company in Liverpool just about ready for business

The Ravens will produce two products for sale this season

LIVERPOOL - A group of 15 high school students from Liverpool has been meeting and brainstorming for a little more than a month now.
The Ravens, a Junior Achievement (JA) company, have chosen their products and are ready to start producing.
“They’ve decided to do two products, one of which is going to be pinecone bird feeders,” said Brenda Kenney, director of programs and southwest program manager of Junior Achievement Nova Scotia.
The birdfeed will be placed in the pinecones, which people can then hang. Students will collect the pinecones and use raffia to create a biodegradable gift-wrap, explained Kenney.
“And then the second product is they’re going to look at recycling or reusing older wood or driftwood to put quotes on,” Kenney said.
Executive
The seven-member executive has been chosen. Some were set to head to Halifax Nov. 18 for executive training.
“Those kids will spend the day with JA learning all about their executive roles and things that they need to help their company be successful,” said Kenney.
The Ravens plan to be head to the Christmas Craft Show in Milton to sell their products from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3.
The same week, on Dec. 7, the group is set to head to Bridgewater for an annual Junior Achievement event called ‘Pitch It!’
“So it’s going to be a busy couple of weeks,” Kenney said.
Kenney said the Liverpool group is still looking for adults to volunteer with the program. She said she is hoping to get at least one or two more volunteers to help out.
