The North Queens Spartans went 3-0 to win the Nettie Bennedict Memorial Senior Boys Basketball Tournament on Feb. 5 and 6.
Six teams competed in the tournament, hosted by North Queens.The Spartans opened with a 94-56 win over the Lockeport Greenwave. Top shooters for the Spartans were Channing Carver with 24 points and Joel Frail, 22.
North Queens took out the Barrington Barons 81-56 in game two to advance to the championship game. Channing Carver netted 25 points for the Spartans.
In the banner game the Spartans and Saint Marys Bay Academy tipped off for what proved to be a very intense contest, with the Spartans posting a 76-70 win. Joel Frail sunk 18 points for North Queens, while Nathan Forrest netted 13.
Congratulations goes out to the Spartans and Coach Ryan Merry, and a huge thanks to the participating teams for a great tournament, all the parents, community members and businesses who volunteered and provided support at the event.
