The tournament begins 9 a.m. and will be held in Dr. John C. Wickwire School if the weather is bad.

Jack Fancy is organizing the tournament on behalf of the Queens County Basketball Association. The $10 per player fee includes a t-shirt and prizes will be awarded. Sobeys is also providing water.

Fancy says, “It gives kids something to look forward to at the start of the school year and I’d like to keep the interest in basketball there.”

The boys and girls divisions are divided into 16-18 years of age, 13-15 and 11-12. Children 10 years of age and under will compete as co-ed teams.

Adult divisions are subject to the number of applicants and volunteers.

The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Sept. 4. Cheques can be made out to the association. Forms are available from Fancy and at Sobeys. For more information, contact Fancy at 354-7216 or fancyjack@hotmail.com.

Teams are guaranteed a minimum of three 20-minute/16-point games - whichever comes first.
