Vice-principal Jeff Sylvester said, "The boys had a very good season," adding the hosting request was a surprise.
"The provincials were scheduled to be held in Halifax and then we received a call Monday (Feb. 23) asking if we could host this."
They said yes, he said, and parents and staff immediately formed various committees to start the planning process.
Two of the eight teams playing are being finalized at this weekend's qualifiers. Therefore, the only assured game time involving the North Queens Spartans at this time is a 6 p.m. March 5, 30 minutes after the opening ceremony.
Games times on March 5 and March 6 are at 2, 4, 6 and 8 p.m.
The games on Saturday start at 9 and 11 a.m. followed by the championship game at 3 p.m.
Sylvester says, "On behalf of the school, we'd like to thank every one who has supported and helped us throughout the season and for this event."
The coaches are Ryan Merry and Evan Uhlman. The manager is Brett Uhlman.
Both the men's and women's teams are headed to the provincials.
