They earned the right to participate in the Provincials by placing first in seasonal play and then winning their regional round robin tournament last weekend in North Queens.
Coach Kim van Dyk said, "Their success can be attributed to their strong defence techniques and their familiarity with one another. Some members of this team have been playing together for seven years."
The Spartans played the Lunenburg Mariners first on Friday and as a result of a strong team effort they defeated them 60 – 25.
They then met their toughest competition against the Lockeport Greenwave but their tenacity in the third quarter allowed them to pull ahead and they were victorious, finishing 58 – 45 to receive the Western Region Division 4 banner.
Both the women's and men's team are headed to the provincials.
