Wallace Fisher was charged in Liverpool’s Court House on Feb. 3, with two counts of violating the Fisheries Act.

Fisher was caught twice in the month of August while selling clams door-to-door. The clams were already shucked, which didn’t allow for an inspection of their size when harvested. Fisher was also selling the clams without a license.

In the first instance, a Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans Officer spotted Fisher going door-to-door selling the clams in Port Mouton and discovered the shucked clams.

Less than two weeks later, Fisher was going door-to-door in Milton selling bags of shucked clams. An off duty Fisheries and Oceans Officer was visiting family in Milton when Fisher came to the property and offered him some clams.

In court Fisher admitted he knew it was illegal to do what he was doing.

Fisher was fined $400 for each offense, and prohibited from digging clams for two years.
