Pine Grove Park's future is secure, after the province of Nova Scotia transferred control to the Region of Queens on Dec. 12.
News from The Advance
The park was part of the land purchased by the province from Resolute Forest Products, which was announced Monday night.
The park covers about 57 acres in Milton.
As a gift to the Region, Resolute donated $250,000 to help with the operations of the park over the next 10 years.
"I am so delighted that Pine Grove will belong to the residents of Queens. I helped develop Pine Grove with Capt. Richard Steele when I worked with Bowater, so it has a special place in my heart," said Mayor Christopher Clarke.
A plaque recognizing Steele will be placed in the park at a later date.
