Two men have been arrested and charged following several incidents of theft and property-related crime.

On Oct. 25 RCMP members from across Southwest Nova District arrested 21-year-old Lawrence Glen Nickerson, of Shelburne, as a result of an ongoing investigation into a series of break and enters into commercial properties and one residential property along the South Shore.

 He is facing 19 charges stemming from incidents in Shelburne, Bridgewater and Port Medway.  These charges include Breach of Probation, Break and Enter, Theft of Motor Vehicle (an all terrain vehicle), Possession of Stolen Property and Theft Over $5000.

On Nov. 19, 46-year-old John Vantrease was arrested for involvement in the same incidents. He is facing eight charges including Theft Over $5000, Break and Enter and Theft of Motor Vehicle. The arrests are the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Shelburne County Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), Shelburne RCMP, Queens County RCMP and Lunenburg County RCMP.

Nickerson, from Shelburne, appeared in court on Oct. 29 and was remanded. His next court appearance will be on Nov. 28 in Shelburne Provincial Court. Vantrease, a former Shelburne County resident who now lives in New Germany, appeared in court on Nov. 20, was remanded. His next court appearance will be Nov. 28 at Bridgewater Provincial Court.
