The firefighters held a variety show on Sept. 30, raising $740 towards the parade. It was also a chance to introduce the parade's key sponsor, Brady Home Building Centre. All the materials to build Santa's sleigh were donated by owners Stu and Cheryl Horton.
The sleigh is being built by students in the high school Options and Opportunities program, which teaches real life work skills to the students in the program.
This year the Santa Claus parade will take place on Nov. 30, and the firefighters are taking entries now. There is no cost to enter, and can be as elaborate or simple as you like. First, second and third prizes will be awarded.
On the night of the parade, the firefighters will be collecting unwrapped toys to donated to the Salvation Army. Stations will be set up along the parade route to drop off the toys.
To register for the parade contact Chad Whynot at 354-5114, email at email@example.com or go on Facebook under the 4th annual Firefighters Santa Claus parade.
