Port Medway area artists holding 5th annual Art Show

The Port Medway art show is returning this weekend, starting on July 27 at the Port Medway Lighthouse Park. The show is a fundraiser for the Old Port Medway cemetery.

Five years ago a group of Port Medway artists formed a collective and held their first art show at the local “cement block building” in the Port Medway Lighthouse Park. This event was both an opportunity to showcase artwork and a fund-raiser for the heritage Old Port Medway cemetery.

The success of this show enabled the cemetery committee to hire the services of a professional cemetery conservationist to work on the fallen and broken stones for several weekends. Funds last year were used to enhance the landscaping.

Each year the art show has increased in size maintaining its focus as a fund-raiser for heritage properties. The “cement block building” has undergone a transformation and is now a credible space for local and visiting artists to display work and to hold other events. We have hosted three history shows as well as children’s art workshops.

This year’s show opens at the Port Medway Lighthouse Park Friday, July 27 at 5 p.m. with refreshments and live music and continues Saturday, July 28, 11-6:30, and Sunday, July 29, 11-4. Everyone is welcome.
