A trial by judge and jury for James Leopold began at Nova Scotia Supreme Court in Bridgewater on May 7.

Leopold is charged with the second-degree murder of Laura Lee Robertson, from Liverpool. He was arrested on April 26.

 Robertson disappeared on April 14, and her remains were found outside of Greenfield off Highway 208 on April 27.

 It took about three hours for selection of the 12-person jury. After the jury was selected the court case began.  

 Witnesses on the first day included Cpl. Graham Boswell, with the Forensic Identification section in Yarmouth, and Amanda Jones, Robertson’s daughter.

 The trial is set to continue this week on May 8 and 9, and resume on May 14.
