Just a few months after Queens Memorial Arena was vacated, the building is going to a new owner. Council of the Region of Queens Municipality approved the first motion to sell the building and property to the province for the new school.

A public hearing on the matter is set for April 16 at 8:45 a.m. in the council chambers of the municipal office.

The municipality is selling the building and surrounding properties for $24,201. In council Mayor John Leefe said the price was based on the land itself, since the structure had little value. Any sellable equipment still inside the building will be removed before the sale is complete.

Final closing date for the sale will be May 31, 2012.
