The body of a 64-year-old man was found along the shore of the Mersey River earlier this morning, near the Liverpool town well.
Queens RCMP Staff Sergeant Jeff Wells says the body was found early this morning, Aug. 30. The victim and another person were out eel fishing on the night of Aug. 29. The second person left to go home, while the victim remained to do more fishing. When the second person returned in the morning, the body was discovered in the water.
Liverpool Fire Fighters were called to help retrieve the body, due to the steep embankment.
An autopsy will be performed tomorrow to determine the cause of death. Next of kin have been notified, but the name of the victim has not been released.
