The Queens County Girls Choir are putting out their first CD this week, just in time for the holiday season. To celebrate the launch, the choir is holding a Holiday Showcase at the Astor Theatre on Dec. 1, starting at 7 p.m.

Zion United Church , Privateer Inn , Country Junction

Tickets for the show are available from choir members or choir director Kristopher Snarby for $7 each. To contact Snarby call 646-1718 or email at qcgirlschoir@gmail.com

The evening promises to be filled with the holiday spirit as well, with performances not just from the choir but by Snarby, Stacey Hanley, Nicole Whynot, Michelle Colp, Amy Grant and Carole Lee Whynot.

“It’s going to be a really nice mix of music and performers,” says Snarby.

Throughout the evening they will also be holding a gourmet dessert auction.

The CD is made up of 20 traditional Christmas songs, recorded locally at Zion United Church. The CD was mixed and produced locally as well, by Cameron Dexter. The choir sings most of the songs on the CD, but there are also solos by, and a performance by Lincoln Inglis back by the choir.

All proceeds from the show and the sale of the CD go towards the choir’s trip in March to Disneyworld to perform. CD’s will be on sale from choir members, at Lane’s Privateer Inn and Country Junction after the concert for $15.

This won’t be the last time you’ll hear from the choir this Christmas season however. The annual chili supper is fast approaching says Snarby, on Dec. 17. Tickets for that event will go on sale soon.
