A bit of that hometown spirit will be showing in Caledonia this weekend, with the a Santa Claus parade.
Organizer Linda Frail says she was in her original hometown last year, and saw how much people enjoyed the celebrations.
“I watched the children. It was just the reaction in these children’s faces. I thought ‘I have to take that to North Queens’.”
Frail says the community was very supportive of the idea, with the businesses and the Board of Trade getting on board as well.
“North Queens is a special place. People are always eager, especially if it’s something different, to jump on board,” she says.
Frails hope is they can make the weekend an annual event for Caledonia, for everyone to enjoy.
“I’m hoping we can build on this. I think it’s something every little town and village needs, just to bring the spirit together.”
There are about two dozen entries in the parade so far, with room for more. Santa will bring up the rear of the parade, but just before him North Queens Community School students will be out collecting letters for Santa.
The tree-decorating contest will take place at the fair grounds whether there is snow or no.
