Family, friends and co-workers have pulled together and organized a fundraiser for the Keddy family on Aug. 9. “They need to get back on their feet and have a fresh start,” said Wendy Rhodenizer, one of the organizers.

Drake Keddy, Amy McGowan and their daughter Jada lost their home on July 17 from an electrical fire.

The family is determined to rebuild on their property however. J&H Industries have already donated trusses for a new house.

Marlin’s will be hosting the fundraising event from 7 p.m. to midnight, which will include a silent auction, 50/50 tickets, a Texas Hold’em tournament and other games of chance.

Jamie Cotter, Kalin and Neil Dobson’s Fabulous Hats are also providing live entertainment for the evening.

People can still help out if they can’t make it to the fundraiser as well. Advance tickets for the 50/50 draw are available for $2, and some silent auction items are already on display to bid on at Marlin’s.

The group contacted John Dunsworth, who plays Mr. Lahey on the popular show Trailer Park Boys to see if they could come down. They were interested in coming but couldn’t make it because they are going to be out of province that day. They did however donate several pieces of merchandise for the fundraiser.

Organizers are still looking for silent auction items and help running the evening, so if interested either contact Wendy Rhodenizer at 935-2012 or Laurenda Lannon at 356-2214.

There is also a facebook group and event page listed that will be updated with their progress.
