The second showcase is set to be on May 18 from 2 to 7 p.m. and May 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. next to Home Hardware.
This year’s showcase is the Theatre Gift Gallery in recognition of LITF, slated for May 16 to 20, says Susan MacLeod, member of the South Queens Chamber of Commerce and organizer of the event.
The showcase will include photography, paintings and woodwork among other types of art. MacLeod says there are 30 participants.
“This is year, also, we will be inviting and have invited some of the local participants in the International Theatre Festival, folks that are coming here that may have some artwork they want to display and sell from their home countries,” says MacLeod.
She says the showcase was organized in December to “provide an opportunity for folks to buy local products.”
The first showcase, on Dec. 2 and 3, 2011, was a success, with 25 participants, she says.
“We’re trying to make it an annual event,” says MacLeod.
Although not certain, MacLeod says there could be another in the autumn or closer to Christmas.
