“After a bit of a break in December, we’ve been singing, dancing, and rehearsing just about every day”, says Annette Burke, the musical’s director.  “Liverpool is known for its musical theatre, and this production will be no exception – The Full Monty has great ballads and group numbers…and of course, there’s Hot Metal, our brave actors playing the infamous strippers that everyone associates with this show.”

Liverpool’s version of The Full Monty will feature Cameron Dexter as Jerry Lukowski, and Chris Ball as his best friend, Dave Bukatinsky   Al Steele, George Ferrier, Jake Paul and Rocky Burton join them as the members of Hot Metal.  The cast also include Hannah Miller, Sarah Webber, Leslie Miller, Libby Broadbent, Richard Comeau, Susan Lane, Grant Webber, Greg Tutty, Robin Wezelenburg, Doug Kent, Jennifer Lambert, Stacy Thorburn and Brittany Verge.

Nominated for 10 Tony awards, The Full Monty tells the story of six unemployed men, who seeing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during their Girls' Night Out, come up with a bold way to make some quick cash.  In the process they find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have fun (while revealing all)!  As the guys work through their fears, self-consciousness, feelings of worthlessness and anxieties they come to discover that not only are they stronger as a group, but that the strength they find in each other gives them the individual courage to face their demons and overcome them.

The Full Monty will be presented at the Astor Theatre Feb. 10 - 12 and 17 – 19.  Tickets are $18/person and are on sale at the theatre box office at 354-5250 or online at www.astortheatre.ns.ca.  Show time is 8 p.m. each night.  Because of the play’s adult language and situations, it is not suitable for children.
