For the three veteran performers, and longtime friends, the show offers a chance to re-unite, and do what they do best. Ricca Razor Sharp, originally from Cape Sable Island, has been making a name for himself on the Calgary music scene for over a decade, releasing multiple albums on Neferiu Records and opening for hip-hop heavyweights like KRS ONE and Redman/Method Man. The rap artist believes that the fun-factor for this show will be high.
“Every time the three of us manage to get together, we seize the opportunity to throw a party, and people seem to feed off of that energy. With music fans in the holiday spirit, and people home from university, it should be a great show.”
Ricca has been rapping with JustBen, currently of Bridgewater, since the two attended high school in Barrington in the mid-90s. “JustBen released a very solid album a few years back,” explains Ricca, “and claims to have some new material, so I’m very excited to hear it. He’s a great MC.”
Ricca is also quick to offer praise for the DJ, “Jetleg has a mass of great music spanning hip-hop, funk, dance, party-rock and everything else you can name. He is one of those DJs that knows how to keep a dance floor alive, which is the most important talent a DJ can have.”
Jetleg and Ricca performed as a team in Calgary for several years before Jetleg returned to his roots in Halifax, to start a family. “Jettie and Ben are both family men,” says Ricca, “but they both definitely love to get the opportunity to get down on stage.”
