Council heard an update on the Visitor Information Centre on Dec. 8, and things seem to be going well.
Brad Rowter, Director of Engineering and Works, says the project is going well, although it has been complicated at times.
“To make the building look simple is a lot of hard work.”
The roof is tight now, and some windows have been installed, although others had to be returned because they were the incorrect ones sent. Soon the deck will be constructed, followed by exterior siding of the building.
The goal, he says, is to have the work on the grounds around the VIC finished by Christmas.
Up until the end of Nov., $130,000 of the $400,000 has been used.
Rowter says it’s not the building, but the work that goes around it that costs the most, from shoreline protection, and paving to the landscaping of the property once construction is complete.
