That was certainly the opinion of the crowd that attended "On the Rocks" at White Point Beach Resort on Feb. 21. This was especially the case for representatives from the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore who gratefully accepted a cheque in the amount of $2,850 from White Point Beach Resort. Proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Foundation as they were the beneficiaries of this year's event.
"On the Rocks" once again proved itself to be an exception palate-pleasing experience. Complementing the amazing presentation of hors d'oeuvres and desserts prepared by Executive Chef Alan Crosby and his team, was a dynamic showcase of wines, beer and spirits from 16 companies here in Nova Scotia and well beyond. Nova Scotian vineyards Domain de Grande Pre and Jost were joined by Corby Distilleries, PMA, InBev and Premiere Wines & Spirits to name just a few who were on hand to share information and samples of their products.
Introduced in 2008, "On the Rocks" is a unique culinary fundraising event that has enjoyed tremendous success. Resort Manager, Danny Morton suggests it has certainly become an event people look forward to in our Feb. line-up at White Point Beach Resort. "Each year, we've seen the event grow which means so too does the value of the cheque we donate to organizations in our community," says Morton.
Like a fine wine, it would appear "On the Rocks" promises to get better with age.
Plans are underway for the 2010 event with details to be announced on the Resort’s website, www.whitepoint.com.
