Premier is guest speaker

Business people in Queens Co. don’t always get a chance to chat with one another. With this in mind, the South Queens Chamber of Commerce is putting on a meet and greet that also includes Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald.

“I hadn’t seen an opportunity in the business community in Queens Co. to interact in that kind of a setting,” says Mark Sapp, co-chair of the Chamber.

The ‘Meet and Greet, Wine and Cheese’ is taking place Feb. 19 at Lane’s Privateer Inn, starting at 7 p.m.

Premier MacDonald is the evening’s guest speaker.

Part of the reason the meet and greet is being done, says Sapp, is because the Chamber is seeing a lot of home-based businesses joining. “A lot of our new members are coming from home based businesses and ones not necessarily with a storefront. The opportunity for them to interact with other business people isn’t there. We see this as a way for them to do that,” he says.

The evening is also a fundraiser for the hospital expansion, and a donation in the Premier’s name will be made on behalf of the South Queens Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets for the event are $15, which includes a glass of either red or white Nova Scotia wine. All are welcome to attend, and encouraged to get their tickets early.
