Kyle made landfall north of Yarmouth at about 9 p.m. as a marginal category one hurricane. The storm weakened rapidly into a tropical storm before moving into the Bay of Fundy. Kyle is now a post-tropical storm.
Shelburne Co. was the most affected area.
Overnight, Nova Scotia Power Inc. restored power to more than 40,000 customers across much of western and central Nova Scotia. Trees and branches falling into power lines caused most of the outages.
As of this publication time, the company’s web site said some customers in Caledonia, West Caledonia, Port Medway and West Berlin were still without power. The estimated latest restoration time was 6 p.m.
Winds were in the 100 kilometre per hour range.
Kyle has little impact on Queens
Except for some power outages, a little erosion in the Port Medway area, fallen trees and lots of branches, Tropical Storm Kyle passed Nova Scotia Sept. 28 without causing much damage in Queens Co.
