Its once beautiful color is still fading from the outside wall of the downtown building where it is displayed.
The mural that was originally painted on the outside of Home Hardware over ten years ago needs and upgrade so to speak.
Home Hardware owner/operator Don MacKenzie says progress to touch up or paint over the mural is at a stand still.
He brought this issue up in July 2006 because the mural was fading.
Now six months later, he says nothing has happened with it yet.
McKenzie says the mural will stay on the building but it needs to be retouched and he has not made plans to get that done.
He doesn’t want to take on the entire cost of repairing the mural and hopes the Region of Queens Municipality helps out.
Matt Cuipido originally painted the mural in 1996 and is made up of historical scenes of Queens County.
The mural is there until it fades off or gets retouched, MacKenzie said.
