What is the biggest problem facing Queens County?
The economic downturn we are in today: the big hit of the closure of Bowater and Stenpro, our two major employers, along with numerous small businesses. Our local fire departments are in desperate need of our assistance, with major investments in pumpers and rescue units, some of which are well over thirty years old and no longer fit requirements to provide adequate service in our communities.

What is the biggest problem facing the district you are running in?

With all the closures of major and small businesses, the lack of employment for our skilled workforce and most of our young talent will have to move away from the area for employment. Another large issue in the district today are all the break- ins and thefts and no policing in the hours of 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., which give open invitations for the less than honest to help themselves.

What will you do to address these issues?

I would like to put our energy into promoting our great county to attract employers to come and set up shop. Less restrictions and more incentives for small and medium sized businesses to relocated her. Restructure our policing to allow for 24 hour patrols in all districts in Queens County.

Where and/or in what field do you work?

I was born in West Berlin in 1958, the second son of Willard and Elizabeth Crouse. I spent most of my working career with Irving Oil Ltd. I managed several service stations in Queens County and one of the largest tire shops in Atlantic Canada - Maritime Tire in New Minas. I owned and operated my own company, Auto and Tire in Brooklyn, with a partner and best friends, and I also drove a fuel delivery truck for Irving Oil.

What is something you consider unique about yourself?

My willingness to volunteer with community based groups: volunteer firefighters in Charleston, past president of Queens County Rails to Trails Association, which in the past five years opened up over 30 km of multi-use trails in Queens County, past president of the Queens ATV Association, treasurer of the Queens County Mutual Aid Association, co-chair for Queens/Lunenburg Ducks Unlimited. Hard working and ready to commit to the people in my district and all of Queens County.
