What is the biggest problem facing Queens County?
The biggest issue is the discouragement and lack of employment opportunities we face, with the recent closure of Resolute.  This would include short-term income and pension uncertainty.

What is the biggest problem facing the district you are running in?

The biggest problem facing our district is the same as the one we are facing in the county, discouragement and unemployment, and it needs to be resolved. Additional concerns include road conditions; sidewalks and excessive driving speed to mention a few. We need solutions and it will be my responsibility to go find the answers.

What will you do to address these issues?

Obviously, businesses and individuals need to be encouraged to invest in our area; consequently it will be important for me to facilitate ways to make our community attractive for such ventures.

Help us get to know you a little.

Most folks know that I grew up in Caledonia and years later moved to Milton to be closer to my place of employment, Bowater Mersey. Having a family, wife Andrea and son Simeon, it has been important for me to maintain balance with work, something I have been able to accomplish by being active in my church and in sports. Over the years, I am sure I have participated in almost every sport available in Queens County, but in leadership roles, I have coached hockey, baseball and basketball, as well as having refereed basketball. I also was involved in forming a ground hockey league in Milton.

Where and/or in what field do you work?

I worked at the mill for 35 years, 20 years as a Power Engineer and 15 years as a Utilities Operator but I am currently working at the power plant in Brooklyn as a 2nd Class Power Engineer. In my years of employment at the mill, I served on safety committees, held union positions and did relief work for salary positions.

What is something you consider unique about yourself?

My greatest asset is my ability to see the positive in any given situation, believing that there is always an opportunity for something good to come out of the ‘ashes’ of any circumstance. I have no problem taking leadership, but certainly welcome teamwork, as that is consistently the most effective way to truly accomplishment the best outcome for Queens County.

Lastly, please know that I will always listen to every concern brought to me and will do my best to respond not only in words but also in actions.
