What is the biggest problem facing Queens County?

The biggest issue facing Queens County at present is, without doubt, our lack of industry and employment opportunities. Close behind this I would consider our population imbalance and changes in the tourism industry issues that need to be addressed.

What is the biggest problem facing the district you are running in?

I believe issues in District 3 mirror those that are affecting our entire Region. Although, being home to several small businesses, fisheries, and beautiful coastlines; supporting those vocations, as well as protecting our natural spaces come to mind as well.

What will you do to address these issues?

I hope to examine the gaps in our local services, attractions, and businesses to identify what it is our Region and its residents require, and from there to work on a plan that will help attract youth, programs, and businesses to our communities. I also hope to research and pursue, along with the other councillors, opportunities for sustainable industry, with employers that want to invest in Queens County and our skilled tradespeople.

Help us get to know you a little:

Where and/or in what field do you work?

I am a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I am an artist as well as the owner of Conopeum Art on Main Street. My ambitions with Conopeum Art are to provide a service and products to the community where previously there was a gap, as well as helping to promote the unique and diverse arts and culture of Queens County and the South Shore.

What is something you consider unique about yourself?

I have a lot of self-initiative and an unfaltering belief in our Region. I also enjoy creating costumes, especially those of the eighteenth century.
