Doreen Holdright was one of two volunteers to be chosen to represent Queens at the Provincial Volunteer Week ceremony in April.

On Feb. 12 council voted two make two community members “Representative Volunteers.”  The volunteers were chosen in a blind vote where the councillors could see the accomplishments of the nominees but not their names. 

Holdright is a member of the North Queens Fair Association and has held various executive positions since 2006.  She’s a treasurer for the local United Baptist Field Council and she volunteers for the local Farmer’s Market and for fundraising for the Boys Basketball Team in North Queens.  She is also a regular member of the Board of Trade, the United Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star – Pearl Chapter.

“I really enjoy the (exhibition),” says Holdright.

Holdright says she was quite surprised and very pleased to find out she had been chosen to represent Queens at the ceremony.

“It’s quite an honour to be chosen by the Region,” says Holdright.

Other candidates for 2013 were George Mansfield, Audrey Dennison, Elizabeth Enroth, Craig Condon, Anna Ford and David Lohnes.
