When Tanya Long of Veinot’s Print pledged $100 to cover help cover the fuel of the search party looking for the capsized Miss Ally, several local persons and businesses signed up to help as well.

Anchor bracelets will be on sale at Veinot’s Print with all proceeds going to the families of the lost crew of the Miss Ally out of Woods Harbour.

Several groups from Woods Harbour headed out on Feb. 21 to search for the five lost fishermen in the last place the overturned vessel was spotted.

Brothers Insulfoam gave Long $100 as well to send to Woods Harbour for fuel. As of the morning of Feb. 22, Long had collected $400 in total from Brothers Insulfoam and several local donors.

Long also noticed Shaula Danyel from Woods Harbour selling anchor bracelets on Facebook with all proceeds from those sales going to the families of the lost fishermen.

“We just chatted and she needed somebody up here to sell them,” says Long.

Several women from the Woods Harbour area and Sambro area had decided to sell the bracelets and got overwhelming amounts of support from not just their communities but also from communities along the South Shore.  There are now several groups on Facebook organizing the sale of the bracelets.

The original group from Sambro, who say they are just a small group of fishermen's wives looking to do their part believes they have secured 1,500 bracelets to sell. Due to the overwhelming response, the different groups can only sell in their own areas.

In Queens County, Veinot’s Print will be the place to get the bracelets.  Long is purchasing the bracelets out of pocket so that all donations she collects can go to the families.  She says the order for the bracelets will most likely come in two weeks.
