In an attempt to engage and connect the up and coming workforce, the Lunenburg Queens Regional Development Agency is planning to coordinate a Young Professionals Network for the region.

Topics :
Young Professionals , Alberta

Those in their twenties and thirties employed in sectors ranging from trades to health care, retail, communications, education, management and the many faces of entrepreneurship, will be able to come together to network and share information in both social and professional settings.

Once a month there will be a social event at which members can meet others working in their profession. As well, there will be opportunities to discuss local “hot topics” some of which include arts and culture, business/employee attraction and retention, economic development, community involvement, et cetera. There will also be the chance to participate in workshops, presentations and other exchanges in areas where there is a demand.

Stephanie Beaton, Employment Strategist with the Lunenburg Queens Regional Development Agency, is leading the initiative. “There are so many people leaving to go to Alberta, unaware of what our region has to offer,” she says. “Affordable housing, a beautiful area, good schools, nice people – what more could you ask for? We need to be doing something to engage the younger generation that is here to avoid losing them to the lure of the West.”

For more information or to find out how you can be involved please contact Stephanie at 543-0491 or stephaniebeaton@eastlink.ca.
