Guest speakers will enlighten us about the secret life of owls, the worrying current plight of Nova Scotia’s bats, the elusive flying squirrel and the understated beauty of moths. The Hope for Wildlife Society will be with us for the afternoon, bringing some live owls and sugar gliders (Australia’s answer to flying squirrels). There will be games and activities for kids too, so make a family day of it!
If you want to experience some night life first hand, stick around for a tasty supper at the Maitland Bridge Community Hall, from 4:30-7 p.m., $8 for buffet meal, and join us at the Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site Visitors Centre (and Dark Sky Preserve!) at 6:30 p.m. in the evening for a guided owl walk and some star-gazing. Check weather details and dress warmly!
