So far, the foundation is in and the water and sewer is almost ready at the Habitat for Humanity build on Amherst St. However they are still missing one key person to really get the building in motion.
The Queens Build Committee of Habitat for Humanity, South Shore Chapter is looking for a Build Supervisor for the Habitat build in Liverpool. In essence, this individual will be the site foreman for the build and as such should bring to the build adequate knowledge in the construction of family dwellings.
The Build Supervisor is responsible for assuring that the build is done in accordance with the specifications of the house design, following regulations and procedures laid down by Habitat for Humanity. The Build Supervisor also determines the schedule for the build and overseas all volunteers on site to ensure that the build is done in a safe and appropriate manner.
Although work has begun on the site, without the build coordinator work cannot take place during the week. A supervisor has to be on site when non-trade volunteers are on the site. In order to lighten the load, the group says several supervisors can work one or two days a week. The goal, says Tim White, is to be roof tight before winter.
Anyone who can help out can contact Robert Boudreau at 543-7879 (Bridgewater) or Charlotte White at 354-4679 or Tim White at 350-1729 (Liverpool).
The Queens Build Committee of Habitat South Shore is also looking for individuals to serve on the following committees: Build Coordination and Health and Safety. Please help us build safe affordable housing in our communities”.
