Greenfield firefighters and Department of Natural Resources crews battled the estimated acre to acre-and-a-half fire. North Queens and Liverpool firefighters provided water and departmental back-up through mutual aid calls.

Natural Resources Forest Technician Peter Colp said the following day, "The call came in at about 5:30 p.m. When we arrived, it was pretty well knocked down but there were still a fair amount of hot spots. "The assumed cause was a broken power line but we're only assuming that was the cause."

He is asking for persons venturing into the forests to take precautions, as some areas are dryer than others.
