The “mock” plane crash, called Exercise Solstice, ends today (Sept. 15).
The simulation had an aircraft containing 10 passengers and two pilots go down along the Kejimikujk National Park boarder.
As of 4 p.m. Sept. 14, emergency crews had rescued the two pilots.
The search for the 10 passengers was just beginning.
Local agencies that took part in the exercise were the North Queens Fire Association, North Queens Fire Auxiliary Association, Annapolis Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR), Barrington GSAR, Clare GSAR, Digby GSAR, and Fundy GSAR.
Provincial agencies involved in the two-day exercise were Emergency Measures Organizations, the Department of Natural Resources, Public Safety, and Emergency Health Services.
Federal agencies included the Joint Rescue Coordination Center, 413 Squadron out of Greenwood, RCMP “H” Division and Parks Canada.
